The Community Connections Program (CCP), is a collaboration between NICOS Chinese Health Coalition and the Asian American Studies (AAS) Departments at City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University. Students enrolled in AAS 575 - Asian American Community Health Issues, AAS 680 - Community Change and Development or other upper-division AAS courses (with instructor's permission) may participate. In class, students learn basic concepts regarding community health and development as well as gain an understanding of concerns and issues specific to Asian Americans. Students' internship experiences in community-based organizations then bring these concepts to life. CCP Interns commit to working 4-6 hours per week in the agency of their choice, often times in lieu of class projects or term papers. Depending on the student's interest, the internship could be anything from tutoring elementary school children to collecting and analyzing survey data. For more information about the Community Connections Program, contact NICOS at (415) 788-6426 or at interns@nicoschc.org. If you are an interested student, please download this application. If you are an interested community-based organization, please download this application.
